I’m happy to announce a new Food Truck Fiesta app for Windows Phone 8 fans!  This first version offers the familiar map of DC with all of the DC food trucks serving during any given day.  You can tap on the truck icons to reveal the tweet, menu details and reviews.  You can download it here!  Here are some screen shots:

Dolci Gelati is a Takoma Park-based gelato shop that just went mobile today!  The Washingtonian has a great write-up on the truck.  Here are the menu details! They are serving at L’Enfant today.

Spitfire Mediterranean food truck is opening today in Fairfax (Business Center Dr in Reston)!  No menu details have been provided, unfortunately, but keep an eye on their page for more info.

Bubble Tea Licious launched about 3 weeks ago, serving a wide variety of tea, smoothies and drinks!  They are also permitted in Montgomery County.  Truck and menu details are located on their page and they are serving at Farragut Square today.

UPDATE:  3 trucks will serve each week.  There will be a rotation of the 8 trucks listed in the flyer.

I can’t tell you how many emails and tweets I’ve received from Alexandria food truck fans wondering why food trucks don’t visit them (answer: the local government has banned them).

But, thanks to the Hilton @ Alexandria Mark Center, food trucks will serve in Alexandria from 11am – 1:30pm every Thursday in August!  Complementary parking is available in the retreat parking lot.  And, this series of events will also support the Give Kids the World charity by donating 10% of proceeds as well as offering $2 ice cream scoops.  The Hilton is located at: 5000 Seminary Rd, Alexandria, VA 22311  The event series kicks off this Thursday, August 1!

Tim Carman, from the Washington Post, updates us on two DC food trucks: El Floridano and Basil Thyme.  Stephan Boillon, owner of El Floridano, is officially retiring his truck to focus on his brand new brick and mortar restaurant, Mothership.  Basil Thyme‘s Brian Farrell has decided to continue operating one of his two trucks, while experimenting with a new Southern-style menu + seeing what happens with DC’s upcoming lottery system.

UPDATE: Brian just chimed in via the comments to let us know what lasagna is back on the menu full-time, Basil Thyme!  Thanks, Brian!

THEARC and Hunanities Council of DC has invited the DMV Food Truck Association to support The Arts and Humanities Festival this Saturday, July 27th, from 11 am – 4 pm.  About 10 trucks are expected to be serving hungry attendees.

The Arts and Humanities Festival at St. Elizabeth’s is gearing up to be a celebration of the culture, creativity and community of the Ward 8 neighborhoods and the expansion of the East Campus of St. Elizabeth’s. Artists and performers from all disciplines, including storytellers, exhibition artists, singers, bands, rappers, workshop artists, historians, actors, dancers, drummers, a musicians are asked to apply to be a part of this family-friendly Festival. The festival kicks off on Saturday, July 27th and will continue  8/17, 8/18, and 8/24. The hours on each of these days are from 11AM-4PM.

Truckeroo is now open until midnight to help welcome the Nationals fans after the game.  Also, a late addition to the truck line-up: Rito Loco!  Lunch time service is still going strong, but be sure to start planning your happy hour activities. 🙂  More info.
