Today (Jun 17) from 11:30am – 2:00pm at the Westend Bistro Patio (22nd & M St NW), Carnivore BBQ, Cupcake Buggy and the Westend Bistro are offering a mini food truck fest with all net proceeds going to benefit Wounded Warrior Project!
Carnivore BBQ says they might bring Old Smoky to the event, which will surely be a sight to see in downtown DC.
This will also be an opportunity to sample items from the Cupcake Buggy, which hasn’t formally launched their food truck yet!
How can you not love this upcoming food truck? The Stress Reliever is PG county’s first food truck 2.0! Permitting is in progress for DC as well.
The operators of The Stress Reliever have named their truck BATTLESTAR, and I have to say that they are the most enthusiastic group of truck owners I have encountered. Just take this quote of them describing their cuisine:
We serve classic comfort foods. Great Beef and turkey Burgers, fried Whiting, shrimp and chicken, cheese steaks, cold subs, pasta dishes, holiday dinners of turkey and homemade (truck made) stuffing and collard greens with a mac n cheese that will make you smack yo mama, lol and when it gets cold…we have the best chili and chicken and dumplings you could taste!!!!
As for serving locations? Oh yeah, The Stress Reliever has that all mapped out already. Their plan is to serve the night life on a regular basis with daytime stops centered around County facilities in Upper Marlboro, offices in Landover and Temple Hills, PGCC in Largo, facilities in Laurel and every hospital in the county. That is a direct quote! Of course, they will take requests.

Coming in July 2011 to Arlington, VA! They also plan on serving in DC after the launch. According to their twitter, they have already passed inspection and are getting the truck painted. Their twitter username is @WilliesPoBoy. Check out more details on the Willie’s Po Boy page as I receive them!
SOL Mexican Grill tweeted this morning that they are launching their second food truck today! Here’s a copy of the tweet:
Finally our second truck will be on the streets today we call her MINI-SOL !!!!!!
Two new food trucks are coming to DC! Swaad Tandoori will be serving Indian cuisine and Basil Thyme will be serving fresh pasta, sauces and dessert. I’ll post more info as I receive it!
Thanks to MetroFare and ReignOfApril for the Basil Thyme tip!
UPDATE: Check out my first look at Basil Thyme!
Today, Saturday June 11, the 2nd Annual Kingman Island Bluegrass & Folk Festival is being held in an interesting location. Kingman Island is located in the middle of the Anacostia river and is accessed by parking in RFK stadium’s lot 6. Then you walk across some bridges to get to the island. It looks like the food trucks will have a way to drive and park on the island, so fans probably won’t have to leave the festival to grab a bite to eat!
I haven’t found an official posting of all of the participating food trucks, but scanning Twitter yields the following list of trucks will be in attendance: @CurbsideCupcake @dcpietruck @DCLoveBites @LobstertruckDC @TaKorean @bigcheesetruck @dcslices @TaKorean
Sound like fun!
The title says it all! 🙂
From the makers of Halal Gyro Plus, we have Halal Grill! Menu + pics are as follows. The twitter account for this truck is wherehalal.
Halal Grill will be at Farragut Square today (6/9/2011)!
