Linda, a DC food truck super-fan, was first to give me the tip about the new Mojo sandwich truck! According to Linda, MojoTruck’s steak classic sandwich, with steak marinated in mojo sauce, lettuce, tomato, FRIED EGG, and mozzarella is awesome! (Her words, not mine!) Check out their page for more info.

The Orange Cow serves super premium homemade ice cream, hand-dipped from the truck.  They serve 2 oz and 5 oz servings (double, triples, quads) as well as sundaes and pints to go.  Smoothies will be added in the near future.  They offer incredibly low prices for the quality and serving size (all natural ingredients). During the Fall, they will offer warm toppings for the ice cream so we are not a “summer only” truck.

Hi Food Truck Fiesta Android app users! I released a new version of the Android app over the weekend. It’s a maintenance release to address a couple of issues:

• Bug fix for 2.3.x version devices whereby the twitter view would not appear
• Feature: zooms further in the current location, once GPS fix is achieved

Just got word, that O’Crepes is launching tomorrow at L’Enfant. They serve gourmet crepes and smoothies. Their twitter id is @OCrepesDC

Just a friendly reminder that the second Truckeroo is this Friday across from the Navy Yard Metro Station (Half and M Street, SE).

There will be 20-25 DC food trucks, admission is free and there will be live music.  This is an all-ages event, so please dont’ be scared away by the ID check at the front gate.  The ID check is just for those wanted to grab an adult beverage.

I first became aware of The Bratwurst King last year as they served during Oktoberfest in Fort Meade, MD. At that time, they were pondering opening a food truck in Fairfax, VA. And, today, I am happy to report that they have officially launched!

The Bratwurst King is currently operating out of the Reston Zoo on a trial basis. They have a European style menu, but also offer an American classic menu tailored towards zoo patrons.

I had a fan write in to ask which DC food trucks serve gluten free menu items.  So, I scoured the Food Truck Fiesta archives and came up with the following list.  Do you know of any additions?  I’ll update the list as I receive more info!

• Austin Grill Truck – in April 2011, they said that a gluten free menu was coming soon (retired)
• Cap Mac – their Tomato soup is gluten free
• Carnivore BBQ – recommends BBQ and slaw, sans the bread, to make the serving gluten free
• Cupcake Buggy – is planning gluten free options once they launch
• Curbside Cupcake – has gluten free chocolate and vanilla cupcakes very frequently
• Eat Wonky – regular fries and dogs (no bun) are gluten free (retired)
• Pi On Wheels (District of Pi)– their online menu says that gluten-free crust is available upon request, though, you may need to request it 24 hours in advance
• Red Hook Lobster Pound – serves a lobster salad when you request a gluten free roll
• Sabor’a Street – the co-owner can’t consume gluten either, should be able to prepare gluten free serving upon request. The Arepas are gluten free (retired)
• Sweetbites – regularly stocks gluten free sweets
• Sauca – has served a “cozy chix noodle soup” in the past (last year) that is gluten free
• Tasty Kabob – with chic peas over salad and lamb over salad / salad and chic peas sides

Opening today is Royal Chicken and Gyro!  Their twitter id is @asgharboa and their menu consists of various combinations of chicken and gyro on pita or over rice.  They expect to serve in the Franklin Park area today.

Curbside Crabcakes has been lurking in the offline world for a while, but I’m happy to report that Chef Keith has started to use his Twitter account to announce locations!  You will find more than crabcakes at this food truck, such as BBQ jerk chicken wings with yellow rice pilaf.  Their twitter username is @CurbSideCrab and more info is on their page!
