On Thursday night, grab dinner from a DC food truck while enjoying a multitude of activities at the Phillips Collection: America’s first museum of modern art (21st & P St NW). A link to tickets and more info can be found on the Facebook event page. Also, tickets are now in the limited availability stage, so be sure to reserve your spot before the event sells out!
Rolls on Rolls is an Indian cuisine food truck that currently operates in Silver Spring, MD. They are currently building a truck so that they can serve in the District. ETA? A few weeks! Their Facebook page is here.
Seoul Food is a Korean-fusion food truck operating in Arlington, VA. They soft-opened on Monday and plan on officially opening tomorrow. But, as I see from their Twitter stream, they’ve already posted a location for today! The Washingtonian has a nice first look. Find out more info on their page!
The long-awaited update to the iPhone (and iPad) Food Truck Fiesta app is out now! The largest addition to the app is a new list tab that lists all of the trucks (active and non-active) for you to view. Once a location is determined, the list re-sorts itself showing which trucks are closest to you. Also, each truck now has a detail page where you can view the Menu, Yelp reviews and, of course, the Tweets. Get the app here or just search for food truck fiesta on the iTunes store! This update is FREE to everyone who bought Version 1. Thank you for supporting the development of the app!
**Note: there is a minor bug in the sorting of the list tab that will be fixed in about a week. So, the ordering may be incorrect from time to time, but all of your information is there and accurate. 🙂
Also, please sign up for the iPhone users email list (below) to be informed of new versions and updates!
Just a friendly reminder that the Phillips Collection (21st & P St NW) will be hosting several DC food trucks during its Phillips after 5 event! The event runs from 5 – 8:30pm this Thursday and includes live music, art talks & tours and tequila tasting. More info can be found on the Facebook event page. Also, these events have a tendency to sell-out, so get your tickets now! 🙂

Cravin Cookies and Sweets actually opened in December 2010, but we’re all still wrapping our arms around the significant food truck community in Montgomery County, MD! Now a regular to the Food Truck Fiesta map, Cravin will be serving today at 5630 Fishers Lane. Check out more info and links on their page.

UPDATE: I just heard from DCRA to help clarify what happened. The licensing director determined that the Lottery Truck isn’t subject to food truck regulations (because they don’t serve food), so it’s length is not an issue for DCRA. Also, DDOT signed-off on the lottery truck being parked on the street. So, there you have it!
NBC Washington informs us that the DC Lottery truck is back on the street after being banned from vending on DC streets because of its excessive length. What exactly happened to allow the truck to vend lottery tickets once again from the curbside is not entirely clear from the article, [see above] but word is that they received a special exemption from the regulations.
In celebration of this newly found freedom, the DC lottery truck and two additional lottery vehicles are “spamming” the curbside at L’Enfant today. 🙂
Langston Grille on Wheels is a new soul food truck that will be opening on Friday, August 19, 2011 @ Minnesota and Benning Roads (DOES). 10:30am-1pm! The Langston Grille is the mobile component of the Langston Bar & Grill located at 1831 Benning Road, NE. It’s always nice to see DC restaurants getting involved in the food truck scene!
The folks at Langston Grille were kind enough to provide their opening day menu:
Hey DC food truck fans. I try to be impartial, neutral and as friendly as possible when writing about DC food trucks. Up until now, that was an easy task because every food truck owner I’ve met has been passionate about their cuisine, service and customers. But, I am just not a huge fan of this truck. Let me explain..
Now, could they be working out the kinks of a relatively new operation? Quite possibly so. And, I would be happy to update this post at a later time if that becomes obvious. But, for now, I am only posting this information because I’ve received a couple of requests for me to post info about The House of Falafel.
And since they refuse to Tweet their locations, I can’t even put them on the daily map or on the sidebar list. But, here are pictures of the truck and its menu.
UPDATE: Anna Spiegel at the Washingtonian followed-up with the House Of Falafel in this piece.
