This morning, Pleasant Pops announced that they have signed a lease and will be opening their first store at 18th St NW and Florida Avenue sometime this summer 2012! Even more exciting is that you can help Brian & Roger get their start by contributing to their Kickstarter campaign (which will go towards purchasing kitchen equipment and constructing a seating area made of reclaimed wood).
Pleasant Pops becomes the 6th DC food truck that started as a truck and is graduating to opening a brick & mortar shop! The other 5 trucks to open (or have opened) a shop are: El Floridano, PORC, DC Empanadas, District Taco and Sauca.
Perhaps a Fiesta Pop is in your future? 😉
A new Indian food truck appeared at L’Enfant on Monday (3/26), named Mayur Kabob House. There is a restaurant of the same name located at 1108 K St NW and the decal on the food truck prefaces the name with Mobile, so I wouldn’t be surprised if the two were related. Thanks goes out to Prashanth for taking the following photos of the truck and menu!
Lilypad On The Run serves sandwiches and various rice and noodle dishes. They plan on serving at Farragut today (3/26)! Here are some photos of menu items.
NBC Washington found the upcoming Chick-fil-A truck parked out in Maryland. It is expected to launch on April 9. No word yet on an official truck twitter account -or- if it’ll be open on Sundays. 🙂
The owners of the tasty Kababji Grill Lebanese restaurant located in Dupont Circle are launching a food truck! What sets this new truck apart from the usual kabob suspects is that they will be serving hot and cold mezza, including their delicious hummus. Here is more info and menu details. They will be launching in April 2012 in DC.
What’s missing from your usual Sunday brunch buffet? How about the Grid Waffles Food Truck and ThirstDC co-hosting a Dupont brunch this Sunday (March 25) from 1-4PM at 1134 19th St NW including performing artists, DJs, speakers, mimomas, red velvet and nutella waffles and more!
You can purchase tickets at http://uncurbeddc.
A picture is worth 1000 words – check out this vintage truck! Goodies Frozen Custard & Treats is planning on launching in DC by April 1, 2012, but it could launch as soon as the end of the week! Goodies notes that today is the official first day of spring and that they may be offering a sweet deal on their proprietary gourmet Indonesian Vanilla Frozen Custard when they launch.
Hey, Metro Center food truck fans! 5 DCFTA trucks are moving the party from 12th & G St to 13th between F and G St NW today! The reason is that trucks want to spread out the parking situation and not have to rely on just a handful of parking spots to serve you.
A bit of drama flared up yesterday as apparently Mayor Gray tweeted a couple of food trucks with the following: goal is to have final version of new regs to Council by end of calendar year.
That wasn’t tweeted publicly, so I don’t have a way of verifying it, but it definitely seems to indicate that the Mayor has no concern over the October 1 deadline whereby DC food trucks will be forced to pay sales taxes. The unofficial deal is that DC food trucks would start to be taxed in conjunction with receiving updated vending regulations.
