Yellow Vendor Korean BBQ Food Truck Is Legit

I just confirmed with DCRA that the mysterious Yellow Vendor food truck spotted a few days ago is indeed legit! Copy of DCRA’s DM:

Yes. Licensed. Same guy that runs bulgogi cart on 14th and L. Vendor of Year in City Paper 2 years ago.

New Food Truck: Yellow Vendor?

Capital Spice tweeted about a new food truck that they spotted on the street called Yellow Vendor.  A quick visit to their twitter page reveals two things: 1) the cusine is Bulgogi (Korean BBQ), 2) that it must have started up on Sunday, July 25.

Apparently, you have to knock on the door to get served…  Is this legit?  Here are some tweets from Yellow Vendor:

i just finished my facebook… all the menu and pictures… its www.facebook.com/yellowvendor so you can check anytime,,,

we will closed door be for customer coming… because its illegal… so when you guys come? please knock the door…

I’m confused by the 2nd tweet, but I can only assume that they mean that they can’t look open for business unless there is a line in front of the truck.

El Floridano Going Solar In 1 Month

It is exciting to see how DC food trucks continue to innovate.  El Floridano just announced that they are going to be out of commission in the near future because they are having solar panels installed on the truck.  Pretty cool!  Here is the tweet from today:

Will be closed the last week of August/first week of September to go Solar. Every little bit helps.

El Floridano Skips Monday Due To Sunday Power Outage

El Floridano reports that his bread supplier will not be able to supply for Monday due to the Sunday rain storm and resulting power outage (that also affects many Washingtonians).  But, talk about turning lemons into lemonade: El Floridano will use the down time to develop some new recipes for us to enjoy in the future!

No bread for Monday so I won’t be open. I’ll make a couple soups and a special with my new found free time.

Looks like I may not be open tomorrow, my baker has no electricity. If power is restored in time I will be at… http://fb.me/D7A9wZup

DCRA Vending Survey: What New Food Trucks Do You Want?

Many DC food trucks have been tweeting about DCRA’s 2010 Vending Survey.  The intro to the survey says that DCRA wants to hear from you, the consumer of street vendors.  They want to know what new food and vending options you want to see and they very boldly state that the goal is to make the District a leader in innovative street vending options!  Go DCRA!
