Thanks to the keen eye of FTF reader, Richard, we can reasonably deduce that Lasagna Plus is no more and the owners have turned their mobile enterprise into a crepe truck, named DC Crepes. The strongest evidence is in the phone number that is listed on the new DC Crepes truck. It is the same one that was on Lasagna Plus. Also, the operators of the crepe truck seem to be the same individuals that used to man Lasagna Plus.
Studying detailed photos of the two trucks leads one to believe that the crepe truck is not the same truck as Lasagna Plus. Also, DC Crepes is actively tweeting their locations whereas Lasagna Plus didn’t even have a Twitter account.
As for the demise of Lasagna Plus, many may not miss it as most yelp reviews compared it to a school lunch. If you are looking for a great lasagna lunch, Basil Thyme is still your truck.

Kababji Truck, the mobile version of the Lebanese restaurant located in Dupont Circle, is launching today at GWU! (aprox. 22nd & H St NW) They are the first truck to accept the GWorld card. Check out their page for more info + menu details.
Here are some photos from Curbside Cookoff going on right now until 9pm at RFK Stadium!

Not only is Saturday’s Curbside Cookoff DC’s largest food truck event to date with 40+ trucks, but it also one of the first large events that is organized by the DC Food Truck Association themselves! Free parking (lots 4 & 5), free entry, free music, free sunshine, all ages; they only thing you need to pay for is food & beverage (2 bars). There will be corn-hole and a raffle to win 45 free food truck lunches, too. The event starts at 11:30am – 9pm at RFK Stadium’s lot #3, address: 2400 East Capitol St, SE, Washington, DC
See you there! 🙂
I’m happy to announce that Popped! Republic will be launching their popcorn truck this Saturday at Curbside Cookoff @ RFK Staduim! Just as a refresher, Curbside Cookoff: Trucko de Mayo will be open from 11:30am-9pm in lot #3 with free admission, free parking, live music, two bars, and more than 40 food trucks.
RFK Stadium address: 2400 East Capitol St, SE, Washington, DC
The move from paying vending fees to paying sales tax was inevitable for DC’ gourmet food trucks. The thing to highlight in yesterday’s passage of the Sales Tax Act was that Councilman Evans introduced an amendment to clarify that only one tax return per business would be required, and it also eliminated any possibility of double-taxation for food trucks.
Tom MacDonald, from DC Slices had this to add: “While the Sales Tax Act moves forward, we continue to wait for Mayor Vincent Gray’s new set of vending regulations, which he proposed in January. This week marks the 9th week since the public comment period closed.”

Serving at a packed Union Station today was Pho Junkies, a new DC pho food truck. Thanks to Seth for writing in with photos of the truck showing its stunning zombie apocalypse-themed wrap! Menu photo + details are on the Pho Junkies info page.
A couple of weeks ago, Robert (@rnscarduzio) spotted a cheesesteak truck at Metro Center. Well, I’m happy to report that Phillies has opened a Twitter account and has started to Tweet locations. Exact menu details are forthcoming, but a truck photo and social media links can be found on their page.
