Following up on the last post about DC Crepes and Lasagna Plus, it does appear that DC Crepes has now officially turned Lasagna Plus into a 2nd crepes truck. Yesterday (5/24), the 2nd crepes truck was officially put into operation – enjoy!
Get ready for some Greek cuisine as Souvlaki Stop begins serving today (5/24) @ Franklin Square (13th & K)! Look out for the blue truck and possibly some free samples. 😉
ARLnow got a hold of an internal document that details the Rosslyn Business Improvement District’s (BID) set of recommendations for the Arlington County Board in regulating food trucks. You won’t be surprised that it contains a laundry list of every method to restrict food truck activity, including prohibiting trucks from main retail areas, no more than 2 trucks or carts per block, even more rigorous inspections, not parking within 65 ft of a restaurant, requiring bathroom access within 200 ft and requiring food trucks to provide their own trash cans.
It is almost ironic that the BID, whose membership is composed of office tower owners, is going after the food trucks that are patronized by the office building workers that are tenants in their buildings.
The document seems to give some token praise to the food truck scene in acknowledging that food trucks do seem to incubate brick & mortar restaurants, which could be reworded as “food truck owners may become future clients of ours when they seek out retail space.”
The comments section of ARLnow’s article does a great job of summarizing the general feeling towards these anti-food truck initiatives.
After serving Arlington exclusively for a little over 1 month, Something Stuffed is pleased to announce that they are now permitted in DC! L’Enfant will be treated today (5/22) to their assortment of fusion, stuffed menu items, including dumplings, empanadas, wraps and salads. Their most recent menu, posted on facebook, shows a selection of fusion empanadas, chili and a cucumber salad.
DC brick & mortar restaurant, BONMi, is launching a food truck in June! The restaurant is located at 900 19th St NW in case you want to do your research. 🙂 The food truck will be serving their version of Banh Mi sandwiches as well as a rotating selection of: Garlic Lemongrass Chicken BONMi, BONMi Beef, Pulled Pork, and Five spice Chicken. More info to come soon!
Attention Sauca fans: run to your nearest Sauca food truck for one last bite – all Saucas are $5 today. (Farragut & Franklin are today’s locations)
As to the reason why the restaurant closed a few days ago and why the trucks will be taking a break from serving their fans? Alluding to the non-stop work and stress of running a restaurant and food trucks, the official response is: Sauca is taking a summer break to smell the roses. 😉
The Slider Barron launched this week in Montgomery County! So, far it looks like they’ve brought their wide variety of gourmet sliders to Fishers Lane. Keep an eye on the map for future locations.

True to her word, Rachel (of the former Phonomenon truck), is launching a new truck with less drama than last year, named Phonation! Not only is she bringing back the usual pho menu, but she is offering a new menu item: the Burrito Banhmi. The ETA for the Phonation’s debut is just a week or two.
You may have seen DC’s new Froyo truck serving the past several days. I even walked right past it near the National Mall this past weekend. 😉 The pricing is simple, $4 w/ 2 toppings for a 6 oz. cup. $0.50 each additional topping. Enjoy! Here is their page where you can find toppings and yogurt offerings.
