Farragut, Franklin, McPherson, L’Enfant, Union Station. Those are just a few of the regular places in DC that food trucks visit for lunch. But, of course, there are many other sections of this city that have the food truck craving being left unfulfilled. I’ve received countless emails from fans asking, “How do I get a food truck to visit my section of town for lunch?” Tenleytown was definitely one of those locations, and today, Red Hook Lobster Pound (LobstertruckDC) is trying something new by actually visiting one of those requested locations! There is no doubt that a lot of food truck operators are silently watching to see how lucrative an outlier spot like Tenleytown will be. And I definitely applaud LobstertruckDC for testing that market!

One has to wonder why more non-downtown locations & markets are not tested by food trucks. By definition, a food truck can visit a location and if there is no business, they can start the engine and visit a known high demand location. But, maybe food trucks don’t feel compelled to explore the unknown because business is still booming at the known downtown locations.

Here is a copy of LobstertruckDC’s tweet announcing the visit to Tenleytown:
