I get a lot of emails from DC food truck fans asking me how they can request trucks to visit their location.
First things first, all food trucks LOVE to hear from their fans! Almost all of them have Facebook pages and Twitter accounts. You can find their Facebook pages by clicking on the truck link on the sidebar of Food Truck Fiesta. Then, you’ll see a list of links at the top of the page, including their Twitter and Facebook pages.
Just hop on to their Facebook page and write your request on their wall! If you’re on Twitter, you can send each truck a message by putting a @ symbol in front of their Twitter username. For example, you’d tweet “@LobsterTruckDC Please come to my office at XYZ.”
My second note is that there is no way to message all of the trucks all at the same time. Why? Well, it’s not because I can’t provide that feature to you, it is because all of the trucks hate it when requests don’t mention them personally. It’s kind of like hiring a caterer for your office party. You’d approach your favorite caterer, not every caterer in DC all at the same time, right? But, also, food truck owners are people and chefs. They are not just serving you unique gourmet food, they are serving you their culinary creations that probably took months or years to perfect. It means a lot to them when you request that they visit your lunchtime spot because you genuinely care about and crave their specific food offerings.
I hope this bit of info helps everyone enjoy the DC food truck scene just a little bit more and it will certainly help continue to build the great community we already have. 🙂
