Saw that today and thought to myself that something seems off about that truck, as if the shitty restaurants that serve that sort of stuff are launching a food truck in an effort to fight back.
“as if the shitty restaurants that serve that sort of stuff are launching a food truck in an effort to fight back”
Or, the kind of places that were food trucks before 2009 are getting back into it after the shitty places made money off of rubes.
You are confusing substance and style. This is exactly what a food truck should be: Quality tasty inexpensive food usually of a specific ethnic origin.
One doesn’t need $10,000 paint job, to play bad music, or put up flat screens playing modern art films to sell good food out of the side of a truck.
FFT: Well, that’s one opinion. It definitely doesn’t fit into the Food Truck 2.0 style of cooking up super-unique gourmet style food.
But, on the other hand, the gourmet trucks don’t fit into the traditional food truck way of pricing things more reasonably (i.e. cheaper than a restaurant would).
So, I think this truck will do well because the food is priced competitively.
I tried their food today and found it very very tasty. The food was oven hot, very delicious and above all good value for our hard earned money.
I would recommend this to everybody and especially to those who are looking for Halal food in DC.
I am giving them 10/10
and my advice to ppl above, please give them a try before commenting
This place is legit – I got the combo platter yesterday. Grilled lamb and chicken served with salad and plenty of rice. I also got the optional hot sauce and yogurt sauce which added plenty of flavor. $7 for enough delicious food to fill you up puts this cart in contention with yellow cart for best value.
@FARRAGUT FOOD TRUCKS: Maybe you should actually try the food before you start spewing negativity about it. The sketchiest looking ethnic restaurants often have the best (and cheapest) food.
Oh how I’ve missed you, generic lamb/rice guy. Please come to West End soon.
