UPDATE 2: Check out photos of the space!
UPDATE: Serving time has been postponed until about 1pm today (April 3) as they are still setting up the venue.
Six DC food trucks will be serving out of the Half and M St SE site today from 11am – 8pm: Red Hook Lobster Pound, Big Cheese, DC Empanadas, Curbside Cupcakes, Doug the Food Dude and Tasty Kabob.
Remember Truckeroo at Das Bullpen? Well that site has undergone a transformation into what the developers now call The Fairgrounds. The concept uses shipping containers as a theme, which are scattered around the perimeter of the site, as well as the pop-up retail strategy to woo vendors into the unconventional space. The center of the surface lot is filled with the usual tables and chairs and the north side is still reserved for a stage and music.
Today (April 3, 2012) is a soft-opening of the site and the grand opening will be on April 12th for the home opener. This is the first time food trucks will be present in the hours leading up to and during a baseball game, so it should be interesting to see how baseball fans take to DC food trucks, if they aren’t already fans. 🙂
I am assured that entry is free, though I don’t have any further info on what other vendors will be present at the site today.

Will we see Truckaroo return this year and if so, is it probable it will be here?
Do we expect to see Truckaroo return to this venue this year. Things have been mum on their facebook.
Hi Shashinka: I suspect that Truckeroo won’t be making a return now that Das Bullpen has been transformed into the Fairgrounds. However, there is a potential for a series of DC Food Truck Association events this summer. Though, it doesn’t seem like anything has solidified at the moment. :-/
Good information to know. I do hope DCFTA comes up with something similar, Truckaroo was a great venue, and was what really got me in to the scene.
Sorry for the double post. My connection timed out, and I did not think the post went through.
