Eat Wonky just announced that they are retiring! But, the truck lives on through a new group of entrepreneurs, named the Bayou Brothers (@BayouBros). I’ll introduce them in another post. 🙂
It’s sad to see DC’s best poutine option go away, but I’m sure we’ll be hearing more from Eat Wonky soon. Here is the official statwment:
So our winter hiatus for spring planning recently evolved into an evaluation of 3rd party offers to acquire Eat Wonky. After much contemplation, we have decided to accept an offer that will expand our capacity to build meaningful relationships with food truck lovers.
We will no longer be serving from a truck, but we are excited to grow the food truck consulting/event coordination side of our business. Through foodtruckadvisors .com and events like @UncurbedDC, we will reach an even larger audience across the spectrum of truck concepts. We will continue to push the envelope with new and innovative ways for food trucks to activate space and add vibrancy to the DC Area and beyond.
The truck and the Eat Wonky brand will be distinct. The brand will be wrapped into a parent brand, though we are not privy to the specific plans or able to comment on it. The truck will be going to a great group of passionate, fun, and engaging folks at @BayouBros (BayouBros.com). Our social media, however, will be wrapped into Food Truck Advisors (a Wonky Ventures Company), which will be the hub for all of our food truck related shenanigans.
So HUGE thanks and love to our followers, partners and colleagues! Stick with us as we rocket into phase 2 of helping the food truck industry reach its potential.

Wow, I know they have been allusive lately, but that’s a major retirement. Sadly, EW would be in one part of town and I in another, and never really got to try them. Wish I had them when I did meet them at Truckaroo. Sure hope the new owners keeps the truck and food traditions going.
This announcement broke my heart! I only recently tried Eat Wonky and then they went away for the winter and I’ve been telling all my friends about how AMAZING they are and how I couldn’t wait for them to come back. I might cry… please tell me where else I can get poutine!
NOOOOO! No more wonky dogs!?!? I am SO sad 🙁 New owners — PLEASE serve wonky dogs!
This sounds like a success story, just moving on to bigger and better things. We will miss the wonky but all the best on the new adventure.
