New Truck: The Culinary Nomad *Breakfast* @CulinaryNomad1

I’m happy to announce a new food truck that aims to serve the breakfast market!  The Culinary Nomad food truck will serve breakfast items & specialty drinks that are inspired by the Chef’s travels and culinary background. They expect to open in the District in the Spring! More info is on their page.

Mighty Dog And Acai To Launch In Mid February @MightyDogAcai

Mighty Dog And Acai has informed me their launch date: the 2nd week of February!  They will be serving gourmet hot dogs and Acai berry shakes in the District and Montgomery County.  More info can be found on their page.

Tasty Kabob Launches *5th* Truck! @TastyKabob

Tasty Kabob listed a 5th truck in today’s tweet, so I can only assume that means that they launched a fifth truck!  The fifth truck is not yet listed on the schedule on their website, so I’ll probably have to wait a few days to confirm that 5 trucks will always be serving at one time.

This fifth truck puts Tasty Kabob into a class of its own with the most trucks that one company has in operation at one time.  Their closest competitor with respect to number of trucks is Sauca, which used to have 4 trucks in operation at one time.  They have since scaled back to 1 or 2 trucks per day ever since the Sauca restaurant opened.

UPDATE (1/5/2012): This is indeed their 5th truck.

Fojol Bros Launches New Truck: Volathai (thai cuisine) @fojolbros

Give the DC food trucks a holiday week off and look at the innovation!  Fojol Bros just tweeted that they have a new truck, named Volathai.  Since Merlindia is missing in action today, the big question is if Merlindia was turned into Volathai or if Volathai is a new truck.  I guess we’ll find out at Franklin Park today when Volathai shows up!

EDIT: The Washingtonian has a first look!

UPDATE (1/5/2012): Today, all three Fojol Bros trucks were out serving, so I can confirm that Volathai is their 3rd truck.

Uncurbed DC Recap In Photos

While I was out of town, I asked a photographer friend, Michael, to take a few shots of the Uncurbed DC scene in Georgetown between Dec 13-17.  I think it’s safe to say that the concept of using an empty storefront to host an art display and catered food from a food truck parked out front was a success!  Organizers (@verdeHOUSE) already appear to be planning the next Uncurbed DC pop-up shop as we speak. 🙂

DC Food Trucks Take The Day Off (Monday)

Happy holidays, DC food truck fans! I’m back from my honeymoon just in time to report that no food trucks appear to be serving today. 🙂  Though, many food trucks do plan on serving later this week.

UncurbedDC Starts Tonight! 6-10pm @UncurbedDC @BBQBusDC

The new concept that blends the pop-up shop with art and food trucks starts tonight!

From December 13 – 17 (6pm – 10pm) at 2805 M St NW (Georgetown), Uncurbed DC will feature a dine-in arts space.  Jacqueline Levine paintings will be on display and  BBQ Bus food truck will be parked outside of the store front, catering the event. The flyer is shown below.

Kyle Gets Married!

Hi! I just wanted to let everyone know that I just got married and that I’m on my honeymoon for a few days!  I have some friends that are helping out with the website while I’m away, so no worries!

And, for those of you who were feeling generous, here is my virtual registry and tip jar. 🙂

Free Food Trucks for Feds On Dec 8!

This Washington Post article has all of the details:

The [GovLoop] Web site’s creators are buying lunch for the first 500 public servants who show up on Dec. 8 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the L’Enfant and Federal Triangle metro stops. Federal, state and local government employees who show up with a government-issued ID or business card will be able to choose between free barbeque [sic] or macaroni and cheese lunches courtesy of the BBQ Bus or Cap Mac food trucks.
